Lesson task 3.2

This lesson task told me to create a A4 poster for a humanitarian cause of my choice.

My propaganda is directed to child mirage. I chose this theme because it is still happening in this world. Actually, one girl is forced to get married before the age of 18 every 2 seconds, and according to Plan International, if we don’t act now more than 150 million girls will become child brides by 2030.

Child, early or forced mirage are a violation of children’s human rights, but are still happening because of laws protecting girls aren’t enforced, or parents think marriage will protect girls from violence, but actually has the opposite effect. Girls married early are more likely to experience violence, abuse and forced sexual relations due to unequal power relations. They are more vulnerable to sexually transmitted infections (including HIV).

My poster design is a child portrait with a wedding veil drawn on to it. This is to express that every child can be a victim of child mirage in the future. You can’t tell who escapes or not, unless we end all child mirages. The image is black and white with high contrasted shadows to create a dramatic effect, so does the high contrasting colors. The black background gives the poster a dark feeling and the red color is well known from the Modernism era. My inspiration was the whole Modernism, using a simple portrait and a heading combined with a limited black, white and red color scheme.
